Leeds United transfer news: Big Archie Gray update today – sources
Leeds United are pulling out all the stops to keep hold of teenage sensation Archie Gray this summer, sources have told Football Insider.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke admitted the Whites will be hoping Gray decides to remain at the club and help them fight for promotion again next season.
Football Insider revealed on 28 May that Leeds are going to do “everything they can” to keep the 18-year-old at Elland Road beyond this summer.
The England U-21 international is one of the Whites’ most in-demand assets, but there is expected to be interest in several of their star players following their 1-0 defeat to Southampton in the Championship play-off final.
Sources say the West Yorkshire club are set to launch a bid to keep him at his boyhood club – putting him at the centre of their plan to gain promotion back to the Premier League next season.
The teenager is under contract until June 2028 after signing an extension in January 2024.
Archie Gray could remain at Leeds United next season
Gray has long been touted as an outstanding talent behind the scenes at Thorp Arch, but he enjoyed a breakout year last season.
Playing in both midfield and at right-back, he made 52 appearances across all competitions, starting in 47 of those outings.
But Leeds are susceptible to offers for the likes of Gray this summer, with the club needing to sell players to help balance the books.

Football Insider revealed on 26 May the Whites must recoup an astonishing £150million in player sales after failing to gain promotion.
O’Rourke suggested, however, that there is a chance Gray could decide to stay in West Yorkshire to help the club in their pursuit of a return to the Premier League again next season.
