Leeds United transfer news: Club agree Mateusz Bogusz deal as medical booked – sources

Leeds United attacking midfielder Mateusz Bogusz has agreed to join Major League Soccer outfit Los Angeles FC ahead of a medical at the club, sources have told Football Insider.

The 21-year-old will put pen to paper on a four-year deal at LAFC as all parties apply the finishing touches to the deal.

Bogusz will see his loan at Spanish second-tier side UD Ibiza terminated in order to allow him to complete the move.

Leeds will be paid a small compensation fee for the midfielder’s services as his contract was not due to expire until the end of the 2023-24 season.

Bogusz is able to complete a move to Major League Soccer as their transfer window does not slam shut until 24 April.

The 18-time Poland Under-21 international has featured regularly for Ibiza this term, scoring twice in 24 appearances – 12 of which came from the start.

He has now spent three consecutive seasons plying his trade in Spain’s second division, notching seven goals and eight assists in 65 appearances across three separate loans.

Bogusz signed for Leeds in the summer of 2019 from Polish side Ruch Chorzow.

However, the 21-year-old has made just two starts for the club amid three total appearances – both of which came in the League Cup.

Bogusz has proved to be a versatile option throughout his career in Spain, playing in a number of midfield roles as well as out on both flanks.

He joins a top US side in LAFC, with the club winning both the Supporters’ Shield and MLS Cup in the 2022 season.
