Leeds United and West Brom agree that the best-case scenario is for Championship matches to resume in the second week of June, Football Insider understands.
The return of the top divisions is edging closer amid Premier League and EFL plans to complete the current campaigns despite talk of the campaign ending on 30 June.
A Championship source has told Football Insider that is a possibility but an unlikely one ahead of tomorrow’s meeting of Premier League clubs to discuss plans for completing this season’s fixtures.
The Premier League and all three Football League divisions are investigating potential resumption dates.
New talks have taken place this week with various bodies, including Government officials about when it could be safe to do so.
Championship top-two Leeds and West Brom agree a season return in early to mid June after a pre-season of at least three weeks is a best-case scenario but also a realistic one.
The EFL have told all 71 clubs in the Championship, League One and League Two not to resume group training before 16 May.
Chairman Rick Parry does not specify a season return date but strongly suggests plans for a resumption around four weeks later.
