Leeds told what they must do to complete forward deal after Chelsea talks

Leeds United will have to convince Chelsea if they are to complete their pursuit of Mykhailo Mudryk, sources have told Football Insider.

The 25-year-old remains high on their list of targets in the closing stages of the summer transfer window, despite Chelsea having blocked previous offers from Leeds.

Sources say Chelsea would prefer to send the Ukraine international elsewhere, but the Whites have not given up in their pursuit, and believe they could still reach an agreement.

As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider's Transfer Insider podcast, Leeds will have to work hard in talks to convince Chelsea to change their stance over Mudryk.

Daniel Farke is determined to improve his options before the transfer deadline on 1 September, and would be keen to lure the Ukraine star to Elland Road.

Chelsea would prefer to send Mudryk to Strasbourg, but reports have suggested the winger would prefer to stay in England, in another boost to Leeds' chances.

Could Leeds make a new move for Mykhailo Mudryk?

Football Insider revealed on 28 August that Mudryk is desperate to leave Chelsea before deadline day, with Leeds still keen to do a deal if Chelsea change their stance.

The 25-year-old is keen to play regular football this season following his return to action after he saw a ban for breaching anti-doping rules overturned following an appeal.

Chelsea have rejected offers from Leeds already in recent weeks, and are now looking elsewhere, but the Whites have been backed to reignite their attempts.

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: "It's a difficult one for Leeds to try and get a deal done for Mykhailo Mudryk.

"They've had two offers rejected by Chelsea now and they've said that they're no longer considering Leeds as an option for Mudryk, so let's see if they stick to that.

"So look, Leeds are going to have to do a lot of convincing in talks with Chelsea to sort of turn their head and make them reconsider their position.

"I think Strasbourg, obviously part of the Blue Co Company are controlled by Chelsea's owners, are an option that they would look at maybe placing the Ukrainian.

"So it's going to be difficult for Leeds, they obviously made those two offers which were rejected and obviously those talks broke down with Chelsea."

Where is Mudryk's most likely destination?

Despite long-standing interest from Leeds, they are currently down the list of options as Chelsea continue to weigh up where to send Mudryk before the 1 September deadline.

A number of Premier League clubs are planning to rival the Whites in their pursuit, alongside clubs across Europe, with the winger still very highly regarded.

Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider on 11 August that Mudryk is most likely to complete a move to Strasbourg before the window closes.

Given the relationship between the clubs, negotiations are expected to be straightforward and would give the Ukraine international the chance to play top-level football.

Meanwhile, Chelsea would be able to keep a close eye on his progress with a view to his return in the future, with shared data between both clubs providing an exclusive insight.
