Leeds work on 'marquee signing' who is being compared to Pablo Hernandez
Leeds United would certainly love to have someone like Pablo Hernandez sign for them in the ongoing transfer window.
The Spain international has somewhat of a legendary status at the Whites after helping them return to the Premier League under Marcelo Bielsa.
What the now-retired attacker is most remembered for is his ability with the ball at his feet, which earned him the nickname El Mago from supporters in LS11.
Julian Brandt has been tipped to bring the same mentality to Elland Road as Hernandez, with the Germany international enjoying a fruitful spell at Borussia Dortmund.
The 30-year-old is available as a free agent this summer and the West Yorkshire outfit are one of the teams in the race for his signature.
Daniel Farke is looking to bring more creativity to the Peacocks' attack ahead of next season, and the ex-Bayer Leverkusen forward could be part of those plans.
Julian Brandt can bring what's missing at Leeds United
Brandt moved to Dortmund from Leverkusen for around 21.5million in the summer of 2019 after establishing himself as one of the most talented prospects in the Bundesliga.
The versatile attacker, capable of playing across the front line and as a number 10, scored four goals and provided seven assists in 29 league appearances this season.
What Brandt does well is play in tight spaces and pick out the right pass in the final, something that has been missing at Elland Road, with the likes of Brenden Aaronson and Anton Stach lacking that creative edge.
Having finished 14th in the Premier League table, Farke has made no secret about wanting to see investment from 49ers Enterprises in the coming weeks, but only time will tell whether they can get a deal over the line for the German star.
Speaking on the Don't Go To Bed Just Yet podcast, host Jonny Buchan said, "That could be one of those signings that actually becomes a bit of a key marquee signing, couldn't it? You know with that experience, with that nous that he's got I mean I think that could be excellent.
"I'm not going to call him Hernandez-esque, but it's the same mentality, isn't it? It's the same mentality, if not the exact type of player."
Elland Road hierarchy have bold strategy this summer
Sources told Football Insider on 20 June that Leeds had submitted a long-term contract offer to Harry Wilson, offering a big pay rise to fend off competition from other Premier League rivals.
There have been plenty of reports in recent days claiming the Whites have reached an agreement to sign the Wales international as a free after his contract at Fulham expires.
With Brandt, another player capable of bringing immense quality to the West Yorkshire outfit's forward line, the hierarchy in LS11 have shown an aggressive approach to recruitment which will please supporters.
