Leeds fans say the same thing about Tarik Muharemovic after what he did vs Sunderland
Leeds United fans were heavily impressed with new signing Tarik Muharemovic after an immense non-competitive debut in the 1-0 friendly victory against Sunderland.
The 23-year-old centre-back made the move to Elland Road this summer from Sassuolo for £34.1million, and was quick to make himself known in Daniel Farke’s side.
Against a Sunderland outfit that are preparing for a Europa League campaign, the Bosnia and Herzegovina international let nothing past him.
This was quickly noticed by Leeds United supporters, who were delighted with his quality and calmness at the back.
His performance helped the Peacocks pick up a 1-0 victory, with Felix Nmecha netting the only goal of the game.
Now, there is real hope that Muharemovic can continue this form going into the 2026-27 campaign.
Leeds fans praise Tarik Muharemovic for impressive debut
Going into the summer transfer window, Leeds were in dire need of a quality centre-back.
Despite avoiding relegation, the club had shipped 56 goals in the Premier League last season, with only the bottom four conceding more.
Therefore, by bringing in Muharemovic, there was a hope that this issue could be solved.
Now, the defender has shown the fanbase that he could be the solution to Leeds’ defensive issues after his fantastic debut.
After watching his performance, many of the Elland Road faithful were quick to take to X to express just how delighted they were with his display.
Who else could Leeds sign this summer?
Former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown exclusively told Football Insider that Leeds are eyeing a move to Burnley’s Zian Flemming.
The club was impressed with the 27-year-old’s performances in the Premier League last season despite the Clarets’ relegation.
Overall, he managed to score 11 goals in the English top-flight, and was clearly Burnley’s best player.
Flemming is expected to be available following Burnley's relegation to the Championship, and while Leeds are not the only club in the race, they represent an interesting option.
It is hoped that the attacker could play alongside Dominic Calvert-Lewin in the new campaign.
However, it remains to be seen who Leeds look to bring through the door in the remaining weeks of the transfer window, with plenty of twists and turns expected.
