Sources: This is when Leeds plan to hold new Daniel Farke talks
Leeds United are planning to hold talks over a new contract for Daniel Farke in the international break, sources have told Football Insider.
The Whites have enjoyed a strong start to the new season, are unbeaten after four Premier League games, and are keen to reward the manager for his recent success.
Following their clash against Crystal Palace at Elland Road on 20 September, Leeds will not play again until 10 October due to the extended international break.
As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider's Transfer Insider podcast, the international break is seen as the ideal oppotunity for Leeds to sit down with Farke.
The break will come as a boost to Leeds, who have seen star players including Dominic Calvert-Lewin earn call-ups, while it will give them time to discuss the manager's future.
Farke is believed to be open to extending his stay at Elland Road, while Leeds are making efforts to keep him, with all parties seemingly keen to get a deal done.
Will Daniel Farke sign a new contract at Leeds?
Football Insider revealed on 20 September that Leeds are confident of agreeing a new contract with Farke in the near future to commit his future to the club.
Those plans are now set to be accelerated thanks to their strong start to the new season, with the Crystal Palace clash the perfect opportunity to continue their winning ways.
Given the positive feeling around Elland Road heading into the international break, there is a feeling that a deal could be agreed with Farke within weeks.
Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: "As we said before, there's no panic, there’s no real rush for Leeds to try and sort this out with Daniel Farke.
"Look, he's into the final year of his contract right now, but Leeds want to offer him a new deal and tie him down to a new long-term contract, which I think he fully deserves.
"What he's done at Leeds in the last 18 months, he's really transformed their fortunes and they've had a bright start to this season as well.
"The fans are really behind Daniel Farke now as well, he's happy at Leeds as well, so talks are ongoing and during the international break there will be talks to thrash things out."
Why are there concerns about Farke's contract extension?
Despite the general optimism surrounding Farke's future at Elland Road ahead of new contract talks, there have also been some potential issues raised.
However, former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson warned Football Insider on 19 September that Leeds' performances could suffer after Farke puts pen to paper.
Similar to what often happens to players when they put pen to paper after contract speculation, there are concerns that their form could dip after the new deal is agreed.
As a result, Leeds are determined not to rock the boat, and could delay talks while they remain in a strong run of form to avoid any issues.
However, the break in play during the intetrnational break may give them the opportunity to avoid any disruption and allow good work to continue on the training ground.
