Southampton ‘doing everything’ to keep Leo Scienza after Leeds agree another signing
Southampton have no plans to sell Leo Scienza as Leeds' interest in his services fades following the arrival of Harry Wilson, sources have told Football Insider.
Leeds have been linked with a move for Scienza over the last few months after some impressive Championship performances for Southampton.
He helped fire the Saints to the playoffs before they were ultimately kicked out due to Spygate, with a move believed to be on the horizon this summer.
Tonda Eckert has remained in charge at St Mary's, and is keen to keep hold of his top players as several key men look to move on.
Southampton are trying to block Scienza's departure, as I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider's Transfer Insider podcast, with Leeds now moving on to other targets.
Daniel Farke has also already bolstered his attacking options after signing Wales winger Wilson on a free transfer after he left Fulham.
Leeds unsure about Leo Scienza move after Southampton latest
Sources have told Football Insider that Southampton want around £35million for Scienza as Aston Villa also track his availability.
The 27-year-old registered seven goals and 10 assists in 37 Championship matches last season following a move from Heidenheim last summer.
Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: "Leeds were one of those clubs that were mentioned (to be interested in Scienza), but he's not a priority target for Daniel Farke’s side right now. They've got Harry Wilson to come into play in that attacking midfield role as well.
"Scienza is under contract at Southampton until 2029. Southampton are doing everything they can to keep Scienza. They'll be looking to keep him because they'll be looking to make up for the disappointment of last season by winning promotion this year."
Jack Harrison to leave Leeds on loan again this summer
Farke has made it clear that he wishes to add quality in depth to his squad this summer, but Harrison still has no future at Elland Road.
The 29-year-old made just 13 appearances for the Whites last season before going out on loan to Fiorentina in the January window.
He had previously been on loan at Everton between 2023 and 2025, and sources have revealed to Football Insider that Leeds will accept a loan offer for Harrison again this summer.
Harrison's contract does not expire until 2028, and the Whites are simply keen to get him off their books for another campaign.
