Stefan Borson warns Leeds to fast-track deal and avoid losing their main man

Leeds United will want to avoid an Oliver Glasner-like situation as questions emerge over Daniel Farke's future at Elland Road.

That is according to former Manchester City financial adviser Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider that he expects the manager's future to be solved soon.

It was expected that Leeds would announce Farke's new contract during the international break, but Premier League football has returned and question marks remain.

The Whites are currently sitting fifth in the Premier League table, ahead of facing Arsenal at the Emirates, currently one of the seven teams unbeaten in the division after five games.

Farke is a much-loved figure in West Yorkshire, with the majority growing concerned about his contract currently being set to expire at the end of 2026-27.

The manager has confirmed that there is no news to share right now, while Paraag Marathe has said that the two are "absolutely aligned" on next steps.

Daniel Farke contract situation 'not complicated'

Comparisons are being made to Glasner's final season as Crystal Palace manager, confirming his decision to step down from his role six months before the end of the 2025-26 campaign.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Borson has downplayed concerns, but insisted that the situation must reach a resolution soon.

"They're not complicated contracts, the manager ones. So I wouldn't read too much into it," he said.

"But clearly, you don't want to go into the final few months of the season, especially if the manager is doing well.

"Because then you end up in a situation like [Oliver] Glasner from last season where you're losing a manager you'd rather not lose.

"Things are going well, so I wouldn't expect they're going to risk losing him at the end of the season."

Which players would benefit from Farke's exit?

While Leeds are currently in red-hot form, not all players will be enjoying life at Elland Road, and that is just the reality of football.

Farke will have his favourites, meaning that others are often forced to watch from the bench, such as Jaka Bijol and Sean Longstaff.

Football Insider understands that Lukas Nmecha is "unhappy" with his current situation, but Leeds remain optimstic of new terms for the striker.

A new manager may be in favour of a front-two formation, which would allow the 27-year-old to feature alongside Dominic Calvert-Lewin, rather than as his back-up.
