Leeds United’s option to complete Joe Rodon deal revealed – sources
Leeds United hold an option to make Joe Rodon’s loan move permanent if they are promoted to the Premier League this season, sources have told Football Insider.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed Leeds are “desperate” to sign Rodon this summer and see him as a “massive” addition on a full-time basis.
Football Insider revealed last month the Welsh international is expected to leave Tottenham permanently when the transfer window reopens after being shipped out on loan to Elland Road this season.
The 26-year-old centre-back has featured heavily for the Whites as he looks to help them secure an immediate return to the Premier League.
O’Rourke revealed there won’t be a “massive” need for Leeds to sell some of their stars this summer despite substantial losses being revealed in their latest accounts, with the club expected to move on a number of the players they loaned out last year.
Any potential incomings will, however, depend upon on how much they can receive for those players returning to Elland Road in the next few weeks.
Leeds United could sign Joe Rodon on permanent deal
Rodon will likely be at the top of Daniel Farke’s wishlist this summer after he’s nailed down a place in the starting lineup.
The defender has made 42 appearances for the club and will be looking to ensure top-flight football returns to West Yorkshire next season.
Rodon’s future at Elland Road will largely depend on which division the Whites are playing in as a permanent move could prove too expensive if they remain in the Championship.

O’Rourke expects there to be interest in star players Crysencio Summerville, Willy Gnonto and Archie Gray even if Leeds are promoted.
But Elland Road chiefs will be confident of keeping hold of that trio and adding more quality to the squad if they can become a Premier League club again.
