Leicester City fans demand star ‘never plays again’ after ‘unforgivable’ performance vs Coventry

Leicester City lost ground on the race for promotion on Saturday as Coventry came from behind to beat the Foxes 2-1.

Despite a wonderful first-half display, the East Midlands side were unable to prevent Coventry from turning the game on its head in the second half as they lost their derby.

Marti Cifuentes is already under serious pressure at the King Power Stadium, with the Foxes continuing to fall away from the playoff spots.

However, despite the manager’s underperformance, much of the fans’ anger was instead directed at Luke Thomas, who put in another poor display.

Leicester City fans fume at Luke Thomas after Coventry defeat

After progressing through the Foxes’ academy, Thomas has established himself as a first-team player at the East Midlands side in recent years.

The left-back has now played over 100 times for Leicester, despite being 24 years old.

In recent years, Thomas has attracted interest from numerous clubs, including Rangers, but the Foxes have managed to keep hold of the local lad.

However, so far this campaign, he has struggled, with the defender unable to prevent Coventry from taking all three points late on.

As a result, many fans have now turned on the full-back, demanding that he does not play for the club again.

Many supporters simply believe that the defender is too weak and is costing Leicester far too often as they continue to fall down the Championship table.

How bad was Thomas against Coventry?

According to Fotmob, while Thomas was poor against Coventry, he was far from the worst player on the pitch.

Overall, the full-back managed to complete four tackles, four clearances, five interceptions and one recovery.

However, attacking-wise, he did little, only having one shot, while he did not create a single chance.

Therefore, if Cifuentes wants to remain in the Leicester job long-term, he simply has to change his lineup, and start by dropping Thomas.

As it stands, things clearly are not working for the manager, and after another defeat, he is in a precarious spot.

Hopefully, with Wrexham up next on Tuesday, Leicester can quickly bounce back, with the derby defeat quickly forgotten about by many of the King Power Stadium faithful.
