Leicester City points deduction: Keith Wyness suggests plan after new twist
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has claimed Leicester City will want to learn their points deduction fate “as soon as possible” after failing with a legal challenge.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – urged the Foxes to “get stuck in” and “take your medicine”.
Leicester were charged in March with a breach of Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) for the 2022-23 campaign and launched swift legal action against the Premier League and EFL.
It has now been confirmed that an independent commission has dismissed the challenge and a hearing will now determine a punishment – which is likely to come in the form of a points deduction.
The club reported losses of £89.7million for the 2022-23 season alone, with top-flight sides only permitted to lose £105million over a three-year period under PSR.
Leicester will want points deduction ‘as soon as possible’, says Wyness
Steve Cooper will take charge at the King Power Stadium following their return to the Premier League – with his first game of the Foxes coming against Tottenham on 19 August.
Wyness told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “It will depend on how Leicester want to play this, to a degree.
“I think they’ll now want it as soon as possible, they’ll want to know their target.
“If I was them, I’d look to get this done before Christmas.

“Then you know your punishment, you know what you have to do in the second half of the season.
“I would expect them not to delay any further. Get stuck in, and take your medicine.”
