Injury expert: Evans will be affected ‘rest of season’ claim after Leicester City update
Leicester City centre-back Jonny Evans’ lack of a proper pre-season programme will likely impact him for the rest of the campaign.
So says injury expert Ben Dinnery, who runs the Premier Injuries site and has a background in medicine and data analysis.
Evans pulled up in the opening throes of the Foxes’ 4-0 win over Newcastle United last Sunday (12 December) with an apparent hamstring injury.

But manager Brendan Rodgers told Leicestershire Live yesterday (15 November) that “it’s not as bad as first feared.”
The 33-year-old has missed a series of matches with a persistent foot injury across two separate blocks this season.
And Dinnery claims that the Northern Ireland international could struggle for the rest of 2021-22.
“He’s managing an ongoing issue with plantar fasciitis,” he told Football Insider‘s Adam Williams.
“That limited his game time massively towards the end of last season and heading into this season.
“In terms of pre-season, the more sessions you get in, the more robust you are for the season ahead.
“He didn’t really get that pre-season programme because of this foot problem.
“Because it was heavily disrupted, it will have a knock-on effect for the rest of the season.
“The mechanism of injury involved sprinting and you feared the worst. But Rodgers says the prognosis is better than first thought.
“If you read between the lines, we’re maybe looking at high-end grade one injury.
“That would mean it’s a push to get Jonny Evans back before the end of this year, though you certainly can’t rule it out.
“Maybe two or three weeks, which is really good news compared to what we thought it could have been.”

Evans will be absent for tonight’s (16 December) clash against Tottenham.
He has scored two goals and registered one assist in 15 appearances this term.
