Leicester City news: Medical expert reveals ‘brutal reality’ after Wilfred Ndidi ligament damage

It is very likely that Leicester City star Wilfred Ndidi has suffered a season-ending medial collateral ligament injury.

That is the view of injury expert Ben Dinnery, who runs the Premier Injuries site and has a background in medicine and data analysis.

Ndidi, 25, hobbled off with a knee injury in the Foxes’ Europa Conference League last-16 clash against Stade Rennais last Thursday (17 March).

Per The Athletic last Sunday (20 March), Brendan Rodgers said that they are “waiting for a second opinion” but that the midfielder’s season may be over.

And all the signs point towards the Nigerian not playing again in 2021-22, claims Dinnery.

“It was a really full-blooded coming together,” he told Football Insider‘s Adam Williams.

“That is an indication that we’re looking at an MCL. How do I rate his chances of playing again this season? Slim to none is the brutal reality.

“The fact that Rodgers is talking about sending him for a second opinion is not a great sign.

“It suggests that it’s the last roll of the dice and that the news they found out first wasn’t favourable. I really think that is doubtful at this point.

“It looks to be a fairly extensive problem and it looks really difficult to see him back playing again this season.

Ndidi’s 31 apperances this season have yielded two goals and one assist.
