Sources: Leicester City in advanced talks with senior man who recently quit Tottenham

Leicester City are in advanced talks to appoint Peter Braund to their recruitment team following his recent Tottenham exit, sources have told Football Insider.

The Premier League are working on deal for Braund to take over as their senior German scout, in a role that would be based in Germany.

Leicester have advertised for the key position as they look to bring in an experienced operator ahead of the January transfer window.

The 2015-16 champions are in negotiations with Braund after identifying him as a strong candidate.

The 56-year-old is available after leaving Tottenham in May of this year, even though database Transfermarkt still list him as working for the London giants.

Braund joined Tottenham in 2017 after two lengthy spell at Man United either side of a three-year stint as Hannover chief scout.

He was believed to be a close ally of former Spurs technical director Steve Hitchen, who left the club in February of this year.

Leicester have had mixed success in terms of recruiting players from Germany in recent years.

The biggest recent success story has been Caglar Soyuncu, who joined from SC Freiburg in 2018 for just under £20million, while Premier League champions Shinji Okazaki (Mainz) and Christian Fuchs (Schalke) also arrived from Germany.

The Leicester transfer team is run by head of recruitment Martyn Glover.

Germany is regarded by the Foxes as one of the key markets along with France, Italy and Spain.
