Russell Martin 'will be sacked' by Leicester City after 'shocking' twist
Leicester City are growing increasingly likely to sack Russell Martin after what has been a miserable start to life in League One.
The Foxes fell to a 3-1 defeat at home against Peterborough last time out, and have now won just two of their eight league games this season as they fell to 17th place.
This is not the first time they have fallen to a heavy home defeat, either, with the fans now having largely turned on the manager amid doubts about his future.
Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that he "can't believe" Martin is still in the job and there is a growing feeling he will be sacked soon.
Despite having long been admirerd by the Leicester hierarchy, who have been keen to back the manager, continued poor results on the pitch have led to major concerns.
Should Martin prove unable to turn their form around, alongside his struggles already this season, his position at the King Power could quickly become untenable.
Will Russell Martin be sacked by Leicester City?
Brown warned Football Insider last month that Martin was already facing significant pressure on his role as Leicester manager with doubts growing over his future.
Snice then, the Foxes have proved unable to turn around their poor start to the season by putting any run of wins together, and are facing the same issues every week.
Martin's constant claims that his side are working hard to improve and will be better next week are beginning to fall on deaf ears, and his time could be called short.
"I can't believe Russell Martin is still in the job at Leicester, to be honest with you," Brown told Football Insider.
"I must admit, I've never been the biggest fan of his, but Leicester dropped into League One expecting to dominate and bounce straight back up to the Championship.
"Obviously it's never as easy as that, we've seen clubs struggle before, but they have fallen way below expectations and have shown no signs of improving, they've been shocking.
"The issues they've got now are the same issues they had a month ago, Russell Martin comes out and says they're going to work hard to improve next week, and then it happens again.
"The fans are already fed up with him, the results haven't been good enough, and at some stage a decision will have to be made.
"After another big defeat at home, you do have to question how long he's got left in the job, and I expect he will be sacked soon if they cannot get more wins on the board."
How do Leicester fans feel about Martin's future?
Quite often, it is the reaction of the fans that can prove pivotal to the manager's future, regardless of whether the board are keen to give him time to improve.
Once any manager loses the fans, it can become increasingly difficult to turn things around, and Martin now appears to have lost the backing of the Leicester City supporters.
Football Insider reported last month that fans had already started calling for Martin to be sacked, and his side's performances since then have done little to ease the frustrations.
During the defeat against Peterborough last time out, chants were heard from the stands at the King Power aimed at the boss and questioning his position at the club.
Martin came out after the game and refused to criticise the supporters, adding that he is also frustrated, but it is doubtful he will be able to win them over at this stage.
