Leicester Exclusive: Van Nistelrooy could be about to sign Man United star
Leicester City boss Ruud van Nistelrooy could lean on his Man United connections to land a suitable loan signing in January, sources have told Football Insider.
Football Insider revealed on Monday (23 December) that the Foxes will target a new striker and centre-back as their priorities in the new year.
However, it is believed concerns over Profit and Sustainability Rules remain at the King Power Stadium and funds for improvements will be tight.
Leicester are ready to explore the loan market and Van Nistelrooy could return to his former club to draft in fresh help for the Foxes’ cause.
He only rejoined United as assistant to Erik ten Hag in the summer but built on his reputation with a promising spell in interim charge at Old Trafford when the Dutchman was sacked.
If suitable targets become available, the Midlands club would first need to cancel the loan of striker Odsonne Edouard, who has not been in any of the last six Premier League matchday squads.
Van Nistelrooy ready to raid Man United to boost Leicester survival hopes
Football Insider first revealed on 2 December Leicester are considering terminating Edouard’s loan deal – with the Crystal Palace forward not making the required impact in four appearances thus far this season.
Facundo Buonanotte fills the other domestic loan spot and has had a big impact this term, scoring four goals and notching two assists.
The Foxes can also explore loan moves from overseas clubs as they fight for survival in the Premier League.
