Leif Davis could save Leeds United millions after training ground reveal – Whelan
Leif Davis could stake a claim to be Jesse Marsch’s second-choice left-back in Leeds United pre-season, according to Noel Whelan.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Whites striker and club ambassador insisted it is up to Davis to prove in pre-season that Marsch does not need to dip into the transfer market for a back-up to Junior Firpo.
Leeds Live reported on Thursday (23 June) that the 22-year-old impressed in a brief stint in training he had at Thorp Arch when he returned from a loan at Bournemouth at the end of the 2021-22 season.

He struggled with injuries while at the Cherries and only managed 15 appearances across all competitions as they won promotion back to the Premier League.
The Whites have already added Rasmus Kristensen as another option at right-back and Whelan has suggested there is no reason why Davis cannot do the same at left-back.
He told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “He was obviously out on loan when Jesse Marsch arrived at the club.
“I think there’s a case there to say everyone is going to get a fair crack at the whip.
“Especially as we’ve gone and recruited in that right-back position but we don’t really have any ample cover on that left-hand side. Junior Firpo is the only natural left full-back that we have.
“Then you’re looking at Leif Davis. The opportunity is there for him to impress in pre-season.

“Hopefully, the loan that he had last season will give him the confidence and that experience you need going into a campaign.
“It’s now down to the player to show Jesse Marsch that he doesn’t need to go into the transfer market and sign a replacement.”
