Leigh Griffiths posts Twitter message after Celtic win v St Johnstone, hails this trio
By Amir Mir
Leigh Griffiths hailed Liam Henderson, Scott Sinclair and Moussa Dembele after they helped Celtic beat St Johnstone 5-2 on Sunday afternoon.
Striker Griffiths was absent for the fixture but that did not matter as Brendan Rodgers side came from 2-1 down to clinch all three points and maintain their domestic unbeaten run.
Keith Watson and a Dedrick Boyata own goal cancelled out Henderson’s opener as the hosts went into the half-time break with a lead.
But with the introduction of Dembele just before the hour mark, the Frenchman changed the tide of the game as he struck a magnificent 24-minute hat-trick to seal the win for his side.
His fellow strike partner Griffiths, had this to say about the Bhoys performance as posted on his personal Twitter account.
“Another great win to keep the run going,” said Griffiths. “Liam Henderson deserved his goal as did Scott Sinclair and Moussa Dembele.”
After Rodgers guided Celtic to another win, he aimed another dig at Griffiths after previously slating his professionalism and attitude.
Scotland international Griffiths has played 26 games in all competitions this season, scoring 13 goals and supplying eight assists.
He last played for the club during the reverse fixture against St Johnstone where he was brought on as a second half substitute.
Five of Griffith’s goals this term did come during the Champions League qualifying stages at the start of the season, with the other eight goals scored in the SPL.
Rodgers will be looking for his team to continue their unbeaten run when they take on Inverness in the Scottish Cup next Saturday.
