Levy told to complete Tottenham-Kane deal after ‘huge’ Sky update – pundit

Daniel Levy must accept Harry Kane needs to leave Tottenham this summer.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former West Ham striker Frank McAvennie has urged the Tottenham chairman to sanction a deal in order to prevent him leaving on a free transfer.

According to Sky Sports (13 June) Manchester United have made a striker a priority transfer position this summer but Spurs’ reluctance to sell Kane to a Premier League rival could stop any bid for the forward.

BBC Sport (5 June), have also reported that Real Madrid are keen on the 29-year-old as a replacement for Karim Benzema, who has left the club after 14 years for a move to Saudi Arabia.

The England captain is also closing in on Alan Shearer’s Premier League goalscoring record and is just 47 goals behind his 260 tally.

For Kane to break the record, McAvennie believes that the Tottenham striker must make the switch to Manchester.

“If he wants to break the record he must go to Manchester United, which would be a huge move,” he told Football Insider.

“But if he wants to win trophies then Real Madrid is where he must go.”

Man United

“If Daniel Levy stalls on a move, Kane will stay and then leave on a free transfer next year, and Tottenham will not receive any funds.”

“It’s similar to Kylian Mbappe, it makes no sense to keep him at the club for a season and then risk losing him for nothing at the end of the next campaign.”
