Lewis Dunk sends message to Brighton fans after shattering blow

Brighton captain Lewis Dunk is focussed on the ‘positives’ as his side go without a win in six games after their 0-0 Premier League draw with Brentford on Friday (December 27).

The 33-year-old played the full 90 minutes as Fabian Hurzeler’s side fell further down the Premier League table, sitting in tenth with 26 points from their 18 games.

Brentford thought they took the lead at the Amex in the 18th minute but Yoane Wissa’s fine finish was ruled out for offside after VAR intervention.

Joao Pedro courted controversy late in the second half after swinging a dangerous elbow at Brentford midfielder Yegor Yarmolyuk but ultimately avoiding a red card.

Brighton winger Solly March then made his long-awaited return to action in the 88th minute having been sidelined for the past 434 days with a serious knee injury.

Lewis Dunk convinced the ‘wins will come’ after Brighton draw with Brentford

The veteran defender remains a key player at Brighton, starting 13 of his 14 games across all competitions, failing to make a goal contribution in his 1174 minutes of action.

Dunk took to Instagram after the draw with Brentford to address the fans, saying: “The wins will come, +1 last night and some positives. So good having Solly back too, we all know how hard he’s worked!”

Brighton have one game left in 2024 to ensure they don’t end December without a win, traveling to Unai Emery’s impressive Aston Villa side on Monday (December 30).

Hurzeler’s side will then host Arsenal in their first game of the new year as they seek to get their season back on track.
