Lewis O’Brien: Pundit issues ‘harsh’ verdict as Nottingham Forest controversy analysed
Paul Robinson has claimed the officials were “harsh” on Huddersfield Town in the Championship play-off final against Nottingham Forest.
However, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Tottenham and England goalkeeper is adamant that Nottingham Forest “deserved to go up.”
Steve Cooper’s side gained promotion to the Premier League after a 1-0 win over Huddersfield Town on Sunday.
Speaking to the BBC post-match (29 May), Terriers boss Carlos Corberan questioned the use of VAR during the match.
Harry Toffolo was booked by referee Jon Moss for an alleged dive inside the Forest penalty area in the second half, much to the dismay of Huddersfield.
The Yorkshire club were also denied a penalty when Max Lowe collided into the back of Lewis O’Brien.
VAR decided not to intervene on either occasion.
When asked by Football Insider for his assessment of the officiating at Wembley, Robinson said: “There was a couple of questionable VAR decisions.
“Jon Moss made his decisions and on both occasions VAR did not adjudge it to be important enough to intervene.

“As much as it was harsh on Huddersfield I think Nottingham Forest were the better team. They deserve to go up.
“After all of this time, the Premier League will be a better place with Nottingham Forest in it. The supporters, the history and the way they have played this season, the right team is going up.”
