Liel Abada allowed to quit Celtic this summer – expert

Brendan Rodgers won’t stand in Liel Abada’s way if he wants to leave Celtic this summer.

But, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Hoops striker Frank McAvennie said the club may need to add another winger if they let Abada move on this summer.

According to the Daily Mail (19 July), Turkish side Fenerbahce want to sign the 21-year-old in the current window.

Fenerbahce are looking to snap up their second Scottish Premiership star after signing Ryan Kent following the expiration of his Rangers contract earlier this summer.

The Israel international has three years left on his Parkhead contract and has been attracting interest from across Europe.

When asked for his assessment of the potential transfer, McAvennie told Football Insider:Having Kent on one side and Abada on the other would be funny,

When a new manager comes in it is different. Ange loved Abada but then he came off the pace a little bit but he is back flying past defenders after what I have seen of him recently.

Celtic

I think he is a good player, I do not know about him going to Fenerbahce because we have not got anyone. I do not like Maeda on the right.

If [Marco] Tilio can play on the right then I can see why they would let him go. If he wants to leave then Brendan will let him, there is no point holding on to someone who does not want to be there.”
