Lingard and Man United teammate will be ‘gone by 31 January’ after major development – pundit
Jesse Lingard and Donny van de Beek “don’t have a future” at Man United under Ralf Rangnick.
That is the view of former Arsenal and Everton striker Kevin Campbell, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the pair’s lack of minutes under the new manager.
Lingard, 29, and Van de Beek, 24, were both unused substitutes in Monday’s 1-0 loss to Wolves at Old Trafford (3 January).
Rangnick brought on 19-year-old Anthony Elanga ahead of the senior duo even though the Red Devils were chasing a goal.
Campbell claimed a lot can be learned from the decision not to play the duo.
“It says to me that they are going to be gone by 31 January,” he told Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs.
“Rangnick has international players on the bench and he is bringing on a kid. It doesn’t make sense to me. It really doesn’t.
“Lingard and Van de Beek clearly don’t have a future at Manchester United. It’s a shame because they are both extremely good players.
“Lingard has good energy and would probably fit into this system well. But he isn’t going to sign a new contract so may that has influence the selection process. That is the way the cookie crumbles sometimes.
“You cannot have it both ways. It has to go one way or another and it’s going against Lingard at the moment.”

Lingard’s contract at Old Trafford expires at the end of this season.
Van de Beek has three-and-a-half years remaining on his deal but has been long linked with an exit from the club in search of regular game time.
