Revealed: Record-breaking £198m Liverpool outlay confirmed
Liverpool have spent more on agents on a proportional basis than any other leading Premier League team since the FA’s records began, Football Insider analysis shows.
The Merseysiders have shelled out £198million to intermediaries since October 2015, aligned with a total transfer spend of £668.1m.
That means for every £1 Liverpool gave to agents during that period, they paid out £3.36 in transfer fees, which is the highest ratio among the so-called Big Six clubs by some distance.
Man City – who spent £1.089bn since 2015 and whose £225.6m of payments to intermediaries during that time were the highest in the league – are second in the list with a ratio of £1 to £4.83.
At the other end of the spectrum, Arsenal spent £1 on agents every time they spent £8.44 on new signings.
Tottenham’s ratio meanwhile was £1 to every £6.74 spent, slightly more than Chelsea’s at £1 to £6.74.
Man United spent £178.9m on agents and £1.026bn on transfers, giving them a ratio of £1 to every £5.74 spent.
The data was taken from the FA’s annual list of payments to intermediaries, which was released last Friday (31 March).
As revealed by Football Insider on Monday (3 April), the £52m Man City have spent on agents in 2022-23 is a record for an individual season.

The league-wide total of £318.2m was also a record for a single season.
FIFA approved a new set of regulations last December in an effort to curb agent power within the sport, with middlemen now limited to a 10 per cent cut of any given transfer fee and a three per cent commission on wages.
