Liverpool about to make ‘signing of the decade’ after source’s Jude Bellingham update – pundit

Liverpool may be about to pull off the signing of the decade after an update in the hunt for Jude Bellingham.

That’s according to former Hibernian striker Tam McManus, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the midfielder’s future.

Sources told this site on Saturday (10 December) that Liverpool were close to securing the sensational signing of Bellingham in the summer window.

It is understood that the midfielder’s father, Mark, had been convinced that a move to Merseyside was the ideal next step in his career – and a deal was “virtually done”.

A full agreement was not struck and Bellingham’s price tag has ballooned again ahead of a transfer showdown in the summer of 2023 – with Man City and Paris Saint-Germain among the other interested clubs.

McManus insists the winner of the race for Bellingham will have pulled off an “unbelievable” achievement.

“Whoever gets him will be making the signing of the decade, it’s a real statement,” McManus told Football Insider‘s Ben Wild.

“It will be an unbelievable deal no matter how much it costs. You see some people saying £150million, others are saying £85million.

“However much it is, it’s worth it. Bellingham is that good. He has proved to everyone at the World cup that he is an outstanding talent.

“Everyone wants to sign him but it’s probably Liverpool, Man City, Real Madrid, Barcelona and PSG. They all have the money, you would think.

“It’s just how much Dortmund are willing to sell him for now.

“They must be laughing.”
