Liverpool and Man City headed for ‘absolute disaster’ after official statement – Robinson
Paul Robinson has claimed “it’s non-sensical” for Liverpool and Man City fans to travel down to Wembley for their FA Cup semi-final.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Premier League goalkeeper has urged the FA to avoid “an absolute disaster” and move the fixture to the north-west.
Liverpool and City fans face an uphill task to get to Wembley for their FA Cup clash over the Easter weekend.
All services from the north-west to London Euston have been suspended on those dates for long-planned rail engineering works.
As reported by the BBC (22 March), the FA have released a statement saying they would liaise with both clubs to find a solution.
When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs for his thoughts on the predicament, Robinson said:
“From somebody who regularly travels to London on a weekend and has been on the rail replacement buses, it would be an absolute disaster. There is no sense asking the fans to travel to London for the game. The trains are temperamental enough.
“It seems completely non-sensical to play the game at Wembley. You can understand why the fans want the game moving up north.
“The clubs are 30 miles away from each other. Why ask the fans to travel to the capital when there is no trains on. It makes no sense.

“You just hope that for once common sense prevails. I hope the FA change their minds.
“The cost of going to game is more than it ever has been. Why put fans through the trouble? Common sense should prevail.”
