Liverpool backed for ‘£250m’+ summer signing spree as three top targets revealed – pundit

Alan Hutton has claimed Liverpool will have to spend “£250million-plus” this summer to make necessary changes to the squad.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Tottenham and Aston Villa defender said fans will be hoping FSG are willing to back Jurgen Klopp in the summer window.

On 24 February, sources told this site that the Reds have set their sights on signing three new midfielders at the end of the season as they brace for a total squad overhaul.

The Anfield club are already working on potential deals as they prepare to lose key stars ahead of a window that promises the biggest changes to the squad since the start of the Klopp era on Merseyside.

The rebuild will centre on the midfield with Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain all out of contract in the summer and other players past their best and in need of replacing.

When asked if FSG will be willing to back the manager in the upcoming window, Hutton told Football Insider:I think as a fan you would really hope so.

It is there for all to see. I think everybody knows that they are going to have to spend big.

We are talking £250-plus million that they are going to have to put into the squad.

It is a large sum of money. Whether they are willing to do that in one hit, we will have to wait and see but I think it needs it.”
