Liverpool backed to complete double signing as ‘big’ transfer claim issued – pundit
Liverpool must sign at least two more players this month to ease the burden on their injury-hit squad.
That’s according to former Hibernian striker Tam McManus, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Reds’ latest loss.
Liverpool lost 3-0 to Brighton on Saturday (14 January), the club’s sixth league defeat of the season.
As quoted by Sky Sports after the match, Jurgen Klopp claimed he “can’t remember a worse game”.
Darwin Nunez missed the loss through injury as he joined Virgil van Dijk, Luis Diaz, Roberto Firmino and Diogo Jota on the injury list.
McManus claims Liverpool must go out and sign at least two players this month to bolster Klopp’s ranks.
“Liverpool just need bodies in at this point,” McManus told Football Insider‘s Ben Wild.
“That injury list is getting bigger and they don’t have that much on the bench really. When Liverpool have their best team out and all fully fit they can beat absolutely anyone.
“But if one or two get injured, especially the likes of Van Dijk, then they struggle to replace them. The depth just isn’t there and that’s a big problem.
“That’s why they have to go out and get a couple of players. They just need bodies. They need to be good players but you Liverpool aren’t going to get through this season with this squad.
“They aren’t going to progress in the Champions League or the FA Cup unless they get players in.

“They need to go out and get them soon too, so there is time to bed them in before these big games come around.
“I would be worried if they didn’t get at least two in.”
