Liverpool backed to seal cut-price Wilfried Zaha deal in January after yet another crushing blow – pundit

Liverpool could sign Wilfried Zaha in January after Luis Diaz suffered a fresh injury setback.

That is according to Spurs expert John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

BBC Sport reported on 14 December that Diaz, 25, has suffered a setback and will now be out for a further three months after undergoing surgery on his knee.

Zaha, 30, is out of contract at the end of the season and could be available for a cut-price fee in January.

Wenham claims the Crystal Palace star would be an ideal signing to replace Diaz.

“If Liverpool are going to go out there and sign someone then you can’t look further than Zaha,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“He’s available. He would want the move. He is Premier League proven, in form, knows the club. It would be the ideal move for them.

“I think Zaha would actually get better in that Liverpool team, with better players around him compared to Palace.

“That would be a quick fix and maybe that’s not what Liverpool are going to do. Zaha would flourish at Anfield.

“It’s one last big payday for him as well. I think that’s a deal that would work well for everyone. “

Zaha scored six goals and provided two assists in 13 top-flight games in the first part of the season.

The Ivory Coast international has 110 goal contributions in 291 Premier League appearances across his career.
