Liverpool beaten to signing by rivals as release clause triggered – sources
Liverpool have been beaten to the signing of Dean Huijsen by Real Madrid after they triggered the Bournemouth star’s £50million release clause.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed what sources have told him about Huijsen’s future.
Arne Slot’s side had joined Chelsea and Arsenal among Premier League clubs interested in his signature, as Football Insider first revealed in March.
However, the Spaniard always preferred a move to Los Blancos and a full agreement between all parties is edging closer ahead of the transfer window opening next month.
As a result, the Reds will be forced to consider other options after Football Insider revealed in February that Liverpool want to sign a new centre-back.

Liverpool miss out on Dean Huijsen as Real Madrid swoop
Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider in March that Huijsen and Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi were among Liverpool’s top targets at centre-back.
O’Rourke explained that talks between Madrid and Bournemouth have been ongoing and they are now set to win the race for the 20-year-old.
“It seems like Liverpool are going to miss out on Huijsen,” he told Football Insider.
“This Real Madrid deal is edging ever closer.
“The player, obviously being a Spain international, is very attracted by the prospect of playing for Real Madrid.
“Madrid and Bournemouth have been in talks now and they have indicated they’re going to meet his £50million release clause.
“So although there was interest from Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea, it seems that Real Madrid are going to win the race for Huijsen.”

Jeremie Frimpong update emerges at Anfield
After missing out on Huijsen, Liverpool look set to make their first signing of the summer in the coming days in the form on Jeremie Frimpong.
Football Insider revealed on 16 May that Liverpool are in advanced talks to sign Frimpong and a full agreement is almost in place between all parties.
The wing-back has a £29.6million release clause in his Leverkusen contract, which is seen as a bargain deal for the Reds given the usual price expectation for a player of his ability.
This comes after Football Insider revealed on 14 May that Liverpool have verbally agreed terms with Frimpong and are edging closer to the move.
