Liverpool can rocket up the table if Jurgen Klopp makes one simple change – pundit

Liverpool must stop playing with such a high defensive line if they are to improve their Premier League form.

That’s according to former Hibernian striker Tam McManus, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Reds’ form.

Liverpool beat West Ham 1-0 on Wednesday (19 October) but remain nine points behind league-leaders Arsenal.

This was the Reds’ fourth win of the season after beating Manchester City the previous weekend thanks to a tactical change.

McManus claims Liverpool can win more games if they drop their defensive line, as they did against Man City.

“I think they have been poor,” McManus told Football Insider‘s Ben Wild.

“The games against Rangers gave them a bit of confidence, they were able to batter them twice.

“It just feels as if there is something missing. They are missing Mane massively, His pace in behind caused teams so many problems last year.

“They do not have that pace in behind now and that is enabling teams to push up a little bit against Liverpool.

“Good teams will pick them off. They sat deeper against Man City and that worked because they knew Man City were going to come onto them.

“They haven’t been great but they are showing signs. It’s back-to-back wins now but I think top four has to be the aim now.

“11 points behind Arsenal, that is too big of a gap.”
