Liverpool ‘concerned’ over Alisson amid ‘massive’ injury verdict

Liverpool are set to be without Alisson for the upcoming matches after a hamstring injury.

Alisson is expected to be out with injury until November for Liverpool after coming off injured against Galatasaray in the Champions League on 30 September.

Caoimhin Kelleher’s summer replacement Giorgi Mamardashvili deputised in the Brazilian’s wake against Chelsea on 4 October.

The Georgian international will once again be between the sticks when the Reds take on Man United on 19 October as the club weigh up their goalkeeper transfer plans in January.

Liverpool set to remain calm over Alisson who is the ‘best goalkeeper in the world’

As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Arne Slot is not worried about his keeper situation and is expected to wait for the Brazilian’s return in November despite the lack of options in goal.

Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown exclusively told Football Insider back in November 2024 that Kelleher wanted to leave Liverpool as he later joined Brentford last summer.

The Reds will perhaps be regretting letting the Ireland international go now the club are without their number one shot stopper.

Speaking on the Inside Track podcast, I explained: “I think there’ll be a bit of concern. There won’t be massive panic within Liverpool.

“Obviously, we know Alisson does seem to pick up these knocks and nicks during the season.

“He missed over 10 games last year with the injuries that he sustained. Obviously, Caoimhin Kelleher came in and really took the gloves and Liverpool almost were able to carry on without missing Alisson.

“But, you’re going to miss a player of his quality who’s pound for pound probably the best goalkeeper in the world.”

Arne Slot contract in works as Liverpool urged to be more cautious

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness exclusively told Football Insider on 16 October that Liverpool must be more calculated before handing Slot a new contract.

It was revealed that Liverpool have made Slot’s new contract a priority, with his current deal expiring in at the end of the 2026-27 season.

The Reds are currently on a three-match losing streak as the Dutchman tries to get his side back on track given the influx of new stars that have upset the balance of the squad.

The absence of Alisson will be a further test for the former Feyenoord manager as he tries to prove to the Anfield board why they must keep him at the club for the foreseeable future.
