Liverpool could complete Wilfried Zaha signing after journalist’s talks update – pundit

Noel Whelan has claimed Wilfried Zaha has “definitely got the talent to play for Liverpool” as he reportedly angles for a top-six move.

The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested the 29-year-old deserves another opportunity to shine after his failed move to Man United almost 10 years ago.

According to journalist David Ornstein on The Five Podcast (20 October), Zaha could now reject a new contract at Crystal Palace in order to sign for a Champions League side on a free transfer.

The Ivory Coast international is out of contract at the end of this season and can discuss a pre-contract agreement with foreign sides in January.

According to Calciomercato (18 October), the winger is “very fond” of Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side.

Zaha has already notched five goals and one assist in nine Premier League outings this season as Crystal Palace sit 11th in the Premier League.

Whelan suggested the hard-working winger’s potential arrival at Anfield would “excite the fans”.

He told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “Sometimes you just wonder about Zaha.

“He deserves this opportunity because he’s definitely got the talent to play for Liverpool.

“He has been so loyal to Crystal Palace ever since coming back from Man United.

He’s a leader out there for them, and someone who can make a difference on the pitch.

“I think he’d excite the fans at Liverpool, and certainly bring a danger to that left or right-hand side.”
