Liverpool could sanction Mohamed Salah sale ‘now’ after ‘unbelievable’ reveal – pundit

Alan Hutton has claimed Liverpool could green-light the sale of Mohamed Salah “now” after prolonged contract talks at Anfield.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Scotland international claimed the time has come for Jurgen Klopp to consider cashing in on the 29-year-old.

As revealed by Football Insider on Saturday (14 May), Liverpool are prepared to offer Salah a four-year deal worth £80million-plus with fresh negotiations set to take place.

A source close to the club told this site the Egypt international is keen to stay and will compromise on his £500,000-a-week wage demands.

However, Hutton suggested the Reds will also be looking at selling Salah if talks do not progress swiftly.

Asked how much longer Liverpool can afford to wait in negotiations, Hutton told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “Well, I think you’re looking at now. Surely, if they’ve offered him that, that’s their top level.

“Unless Mo Salah has this thing in his mind where money’s not the issue, it’s not about that. It’s not about the length of contract, it’s about another challenge in some other league.

“If that is is his wish, then it’s up to him. Then it’s about: ‘Okay, my time’s up here,’ and Klopp saying: ‘Okay, I’m going to sell you because you’re into your last year.’

“If he’s happy at Liverpool, that is an unbelievable contract at a club where he’s happy. He’s done ever so well so there’s no problem there for me.”

Salah’s current contract at Anfield runs until the summer of 2023.

He has scored 30 goals and contributed 16 assists in 49 appearances this season.
