Liverpool could sign next Andy Robertson after what I’ve heard – pundit

Alex McLeish has suggested Aberdeen youngster Calvin Ramsay could emulate Andy Robertson should he move to Liverpool.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Dons boss revealed he has the 18-year-old is a “great young talent” after making his breakthrough this season.

The Liverpool Echo (21 April) claim the Reds are keeping tabs on the teenage defender with a view to a potential move this summer.

McLeish insisted Ramsay still has a lot of learning to do at Aberdeen before making a move down to Anfield.

However, he suggested he could follow in the footsteps of fellow countryman Robertson by joining the Reds.

McLeish told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “The potential is there, people say. I’ve not seen enough of Calvin but the word is he’s a great young talent.

“He’s got that potential ahead of him and he’s also still learning. If he goes to Liverpool then he’ll be a student to the masterclass of Andy Robertson. He’s got a great teacher there if he goes to Anfield.

“It’s always nice to have these headlines associated with you and this kind of club. It gives you your own confidence, it creates a higher confidence and a higher mentality for you.

“He’s still got a wee bit to do with the Dons first before they do the big deal, unless it’s one you can’t refuse.”

Liverpool

Liverpool’s prospective interest comes with fellow right-back Neco Williams’ future at Anfield up in the air.

As revealed by Football Insider (20 March), the 21-year-old is keen to join Fulham permanently this summer after helping his loan side to promotion from the Championship.
