Liverpool ‘cursed’ as fans left in disbelief at new injury news

Liverpool have endured miserable injury luck so far this season.

The Reds have stumbled in their Premier League title bid, and fitness issues have played a huge part in their underwhelming campaign so far.

Giovanni Leoni and Conor Bradley are out for Liverpool’s whole season, and Alexander Isak, Joe Gomez and Jeremie Frimpong are all injured at the moment.

Now, it looks as though another Reds star is set for a spell on the sidelines with supporters and Arne Slot left in disbelief.

Which Liverpool star has picked up an injury?

Liverpool signed Jeremy Jacquet on deadline day, although he will not arrive on Merseyside until the summer transfer window.

They will pay £55million with the potential for a further £5m in add-ons, in a deal which many experts consider to be a bargain for a player of his quality.

He may not play much football before that though, as he was taken off for Rennes in their Ligue 1 clash with Lens on Saturday.

Jacquet went off with a shoulder injury in the 69th minute and looked to be in agony.

Liverpool fans in meltdown over Jacquet injury

Liverpool fans are convinced that their club is cursed after the latest injury news on Jacquet.

One supporter said: “Can’t believe Jacquet’s injured already and he’s not even arrived. We are so cursed.”

Another said: “Signs for Liverpool…Immediately gets injured. Hope it’s not as bad as it looks”

One fan said: “Jacquet off injured. Will fit in beautifully.”

Ultimately, Jacquet has a decent amount of time to recover and still be ready for the start of the new season when he links up with the Reds.

Given that it is a shoulder injury, he should not take too long to recover, and should be ready to star for the Reds.

Mohamed Salah was forced off with a shoulder issue in the 2017-18 Champions League final and was playing in the World Cup just weeks later, so that is an encouraging sign for the young French defender.

The Anfield side need help in defense desperately with Virgil van Dijk getting older and Ibrahima Konate’s future still up in the air.

The former Paris Saint-Germain defender is yet to sign a new contract and any talk about fresh terms has gone silent at the moment.

If Konate does end up leaving on a free transfer, then having Jacquet for the start of next season, will be even more crucial for Slot and Co.
