Liverpool ‘definitely’ going to sign ‘very exciting’ Diogo Jota ally after Sky update – pundit

Alan Hutton has insisted Liverpool will “definitely” complete the signing of Fulham star Fabio Carvalho this summer.

The former Scotland international, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the Reds are preparing for the future with their pursuit of the 19-year-old.

As reported by Sky Sports on Tuesday (1 February), Liverpool are confident of agreeing a pre-contract deal to sign Carvalho this summer after failing to do a deal in January.

Football Insider revealed last month (20 January) the Reds were working on the groundwork of a deal for the Fulham star to join at the end of the season.

Sky Sports claim Liverpool tried to sign him up and send him back on loan to Craven Cottage before Monday’s 11pm deadline.

Hutton insisted Carvalho will be part of the new-look attacking line alongside Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz in the future.

Asked if he thought Carvalho’s move to Anfield was inevitable, Hutton told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “Yeah. Another very exciting young player.

“It just shows you Liverpool are looking to the future.

“Their front three have been absolutely tremendous for the last couple of seasons, but that’s going to come to an end at some point.

“So bringing in Diaz, looking at Carvalho, it’s the future of Liverpool’s front three with Jota.

“It’s something that they nearly got over the line and they didn’t quite get there.

“But definitely, I think they’ll be returning to complete that transfer in the summer.”

Carvalho has played 25 times for Fulham since breaking through the youth ranks in London.

He has scored seven times in 18 Championship appearances this term.
