Liverpool expected to axe Joe Gomez after early team news – ‘100 per cent’, says pundit
Paul Robinson is “100 per cent” sure Ibrahima Konate will start for Liverpool against Napoli.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Spurs and England number one said Konate, 23, and Virgil van Dijk are “without a doubt the best partnership” available to Jurgen Klopp.
Konate has been sidelined since the 7-1 win over Rangers in the Champions League on 12 October.
As shown by Anfield Watch (31 October), Klopp revealed the centre-back is in contention for the visit of Napoli on Tuesday.
Joe Gomez has started alongside Van Dijk for Liverpool’s last five games across all competitions.
When asked by Football Insider if Konate should return to the starting XI for the Champions League clash, Robinson said: “100 per cent.
“Konate and Van Dijk are without a doubt the best partnership. They proved that in the Champions League last season. As a pair they were brilliant.
“Virgil van Dijk has been off colour this season. He has not been himself. There is a lot of players that are not playing well and he is one.

“Now that Konate is back fit he comes back in for Gomez.
“As soon as Jurgen Klopp can get his injured players back the better. They had eight key players out against Nottingham Forest which is almost unsustainable.”
