Liverpool fans can’t believe what they’re reading about Andy Robertson’s move to Tottenham

Tottenham are working on a deal to sign Liverpool’s Andy Robertson before the transfer window closes.

The left-back has been at Liverpool since 2017 and has overseen a golden era at the Merseyside club.

So far for the Reds, he has won two Premier League titles, a Champions League and an FA Cup.

However, with the arrival of Milos Kerkez in the summer, the Scotland international’s game time has become sparse.

As a result, Robertson has been linked away from Liverpool, with Tottenham now making a move, much to the dismay of the Anfield faithful.

Liverpool fans furious with potential Andy Robertson departure

Liverpool are not in a good way this season.

Despite the money they spent in the summer, the Reds are already out of the title race, with victories proving to be difficult to come by for Arne Slot’s side.

Currently, the Merseyside club are fourth, but are in real danger of dropping down the table after four successive draws.

As a result, there have been calls for Slot to be sacked by Liverpool, with there being an increasing possibility that the Reds don’t qualify for the Champions League this season.

Therefore, when The Athletic reported on 23 January that talks were advancing for Robertson to move to Tottenham mid-season, Reds fans were furious, especially as they are already short on left-backs.

Liverpool need to recall Konstantinos Tsimikas if Robertson is sold

If Liverpool go ahead with Robertson’s sale, they simply have to recall Konstantinos Tsimikas.

The Reds simply cannot have one left-back until the end of the season, especially when they are still in three competitions.

On top of this, Kerkez has often been poor for Liverpool since signing, and needs to have competition in order to try and get more out of him.

Therefore, while Tsimikas might not have the most quality in the world, a recall is necessary in order to keep Liverpool competitive until a solution can be found in the summer.

Tsimikas is currently on loan to Roma but has struggled to hold down a place in the starting XI and is often used as an impact substitute off the bench.

However, it remains to be seen if Slot goes down this route in the remaining weeks of the window.
