‘Stand up and be counted’ – Liverpool fans demand Klopp starts 27-year-old v West Ham
By Matt Bullin
Liverpool fans have demanded Jurgen Klopp starts Daniel Sturridge in their Sunday afternoon match against West Ham at the London Stadium.
The calls come after it was confirmed by the Liverpool Echo that Roberto Firmino will miss the game through injury, and amid poor recent form from Divock Origi.
Sturridge has featured as a late substitute in the Reds’ last two Premier League matches as he returns from fitness.
Klopp’s side drew 0-0 with Southampton in their last match, giving their top-four rivals the chance to gain on them.
Sturridge has only started five Premier League games this season, and has not completed 90 minutes, as he has struggled with injuries throughout the campaign.
The 25-time England international has featured 25 times in all competitions this term, scoring six goals and making three assists.
But despite his poor form over the course of the season, the Anfield faithful have called for the striker to start at the London Stadium.
Here is a selection of their Tweets:

The Reds currently sit in fourth in the Premier League, but should they win against West Ham and in their final match of the season versus Middlesbrough, a place in next season’s Champions League will be secured.
In other Liverpool news, fans have questioned whether signing this 23-year-old is a smart move by the club.
