Liverpool fans rage at ‘unforgivable’ Ibrahima Konate news after Paul Joyce’s update

Liverpool are currently focused on trying to win the Premier League while still competing in various other competitions, but off the field there are several contracts that are starting to become problematic.

The Reds defeated Man City 2-0 on Sunday (23 February) to go 11 points clear at the top of the Premier League after goals from Dominik Szoboszlai and Mohamed Salah, but fans are concerned about the long-term futures of several star players.

A lot of attention has been placed on Salah, Virgil Van Dijk, and Trent Alexander-Arnold as the star trio are out of contract at the end of this season.

There has been no movement regarding their situations, and as it stands all three will end up being free agents in the summer.

However, Ibrahima Konte’s contract is also running down as his Anfield deal comes to an end in the summer of 2026.

That means the centre-back is heading into his final year next season, which would lead to this summer being Liverpool’s last chance to cash in on him unless a new deal was agreed.

Ibrahima Konate has gained interest from top European clubs

According to Paul Joyce of The Times, there have been “whispers” of growing interest in the France international from Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid.

The European powerhouses are keeping an eye on Konate’s ongoing situation as he is yet to sign a contract after Liverpool offered him new terms.

Liverpool fans don’t want the club to repeat past mistakes

Konate has grown in importance to the current Liverpool side, having established a strong on-screen relationship with Van Dijk.

Fans are now urging the club to not make the same mistake they have with other players to let Konate end up playing with just a year left on his deal, which supporters believe would be “unforgivable.”
