Liverpool fans react on Twitter to Lovren and Fonte cryptic Instagram exchange

Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren delivered a cryptic message to former team-mate Jose Fonte on Instagram on Monday, which has caused Reds fans on Twitter to speculate.

The Southampton captain congratulated Lovren on the social media site after the 1-0 Merseyside derby victory at Goodison Park.

Lovren then replied “thanks bro hope to see you soon, you know where” with a wink emoticon finishing the sentence.

It is assumed by many that he was simply talking about the upcoming League Cup semi-final meeting between Southampton and Liverpool.

However, given Fonte’s uncertain future on the south coast, some on social media believe there is more meaning to the message.

Here are a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Fonte is reportedly stalling on a new deal with Southampton, as the Saints are unwilling to extend his current deal which runs out in 2018.

However, he has not yet been linked with Liverpool in the media with the Reds in search of a new defender.

In fact it is Fonte’s centre-back partner Virgil van Dijk, who is reportedly interesting Jurgen Klopp.

It was revealed earlier in November that the Netherlands international had a £25million release clause, which is said to have alerted a number of club, including Liverpool.

It is clear that Klopp needs to shore up his defence in January with the Reds currently holding the unwanted tally of conceding the most goals in the league’s top five.

However, it is still unclear who he will move for.

In other Liverpool transfer news, the Reds have made an approach for this Premier League champion.
