Liverpool fans stunned by unbelievable Diogo Jota reveal

Liverpool were knocked out of the Champions League on Tuesday (11 March), and supporters have called out one player for their lack of impact in the game.

The Reds failed to progress to the quarter-finals of the competition despite having a one-goal lead to protect at Anfield, with Liverpool failing to trouble PSG.

Arne Slot’s men were defeated 1-0 on the night after an Ousmane Dembele goal in the first half, with the two teams then battling out all the way to a penalty shootout after drawing 1-1 on aggregate.

PSG scored all four of their penalties in emphatic fashion while Darwin Nunez and Curtis Jones had their efforts saved, leading to the Premier League giants being knocked out.

The defeat brought an end to Liverpool’s hopes of a treble this season and could have been the last time that Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Virgil Van Dijk play for the club in Europe as their contracts expire in the summer.

Liverpool must not dust themselves down immediately as they are set to face Newcastle in the EFL Cup final on Sunday (16 March) at Wembley Stadium.

Diogo Jota struggled to make any impact

Slot opted to start Diogo Jota upfront against PSG, but his dreadful run in the Champions League continued with Liverpool’s exit meaning he has now failed to score a goal in the competition for four years.

Jota has scored five goals in 30 Champions League games for the club during his time at Anfield, with his last one taking place in a 2-0 win over Atletico Madrid during the 2021-22 group stage.

Liverpool fans believe Diogo Jota could be sold

Liverpool fans have grown frustrated with the 28-year-old and his lack of end product, despite the opportunities he has been given.

Supporters claimed that he had a “stinker” of a game and has been “ruined” by injuries as people questioned why Slot chose to start him in a match of this magnitude.
