Liverpool fans ‘up in arms’ at Jones exit after Aston Villa bid update – pundit
Liverpool fans “would be up in arms” if Curtis Jones was sold to Aston Villa for £15million this summer, according to Noel Whelan.
The former Premier League striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, heaped praise on the 20-year-old and suggested his market worth is actually between £30-40million.
According to Alan Nixon (August 29th), Villa have a “big interest” in the Reds attacking midfielder who he likened to Jack Grealish.

A bid of £15million is reportedly being readied by the Midlands club.
Jones has four years remaining on his contract at Anfield.
When asked by Football Insider if Liverpool would likely even consider such a bid, Whelan said:
“Come on, that’s not enough for a player that was starting to establish himself in the Liverpool first team last season.
“When everyone is fully fit it is difficult for him to get game time but that does not mean he is not a fantastic player. I think he’s a brilliant player.
“If I was Liverpool I’d be very reluctant to let him go or to even talk about it. The fans would be up in arms.
“I really believe he has a huge future at Liverpool. He has got such a great character and when he is out on the pitch you can see that he believes in his ability. He is not afraid to try things and is so calm on the ball.

“To replace Jones you would have to spend £30-40million – that’s his value – so why would you even contemplate it?
“I think it would be very difficult to prize him away from Liverpool so I would be very surprised if it happened.”
