Sources: Liverpool pocketing seven-figure fee as Taiwo Awoniyi completes Nottingham Forest medical
Liverpool will rake in nearly £2million from the transfer of Taiwo Awoniyi to Nottingham Forest, Football Insider understands.
The Premier League newcomers are putting the finishing touches to the capture of the former Anfield striker after triggering the £17.2million release clause in his Union Berlin contract.
A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Awoniyi, 24, has agreed personal terms with Forest and begun the first stage of a medical.

There is a full agreement in principle and only formalities are needed to complete before he joins Dean Henderson as the latest marquee signing heading to the City Ground.
Awoniyi’s former club Liverpool will also join Union Berlin in profiting from the transfer.
Due to a 10 per cent sell-on clause in the 2021 move that took him to the German club, Liverpool will receive £1.75m from the deal.
Awoniyi has been lured back to a Premier League club after banging in 15 Bundesliga goals last season to help Union Berlin to a fifth-place finish.
He scored 20 goals in all competitions during the 2021-22 season.
During his time on the books at Anfield, Awoniyi had seven loan spells, at clubs in Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands, before joining Union Berlin in 2020.
He initially joined the club on loan from Liverpool, scoring five goals in 22 games during this first campaign, before joining permanently last summer.

Due to his form in Germany, Awoniyi is now a full Nigeria international with four caps to his name.
Forest begin their first Premier League campaign since 1998-99 against Newcastle United at St James’ Park on 6 August.
