Report: Liverpool striker instructs agent to make Euro giants contact, wants verbal agreement secured

Liverpool goal machine Mohamed Salah is aware of interest from European champions Real Madrid and has instructed his agent to make contact with the Spanish giants, according to a report.

Spanish outlet Don Balon claim that Salah is coveted by chairman Florentino Perez, and has aspirations to play alongside Cristiano Ronaldo at Los Blancos.

Salah has reportedly instructed his agent to make contact with Real in the coming months, and does not want to miss out on the opportunity to join Madrid.

It is said that Salah is looking to secure a verbal agreement with Real as soon as possible ahead of a summer move to Spain.

Perez is said to favour Salah as the player to replace Welshman Gareth Bale, who could be on his way out of the club this summer after five years.

The 25-year-old has taken the Premier League by storm this season, currently sitting top of the scoring charts as he leads Liverpool’s challenge for the top four.

The Egyptian was signed in the summer for an initial £37million from Roma, and has lived up to that price tag with 21 goals in all competitions so far.

He has mainly been used as a right-sided forward but was deployed in a central striker role for most of Friday’s 3-3 draw against Arsenal as he added to his staggering season tally.

Football Insider verdict:

This would be a ruthless move from Salah if true. The Egyptian has only just joined Liverpool in the summer, and to be engineering a move away already is questionable. Granted, a move to Madrid does not come around often, but to instruct your agent to contact them is quite extreme. As with most stories emanating from the Spanish press, this should be taken with a pinch of salt. While Salah may desperately want to play for Madrid, the 25-year-old is quite obviously happy at Liverpool right now, and if they qualify for the Champions League again next year then there is not much reason for him to leave.
