Liverpool handed ‘big’ Jude Bellingham boost after confirmed news – pundit

Frank McAvennie has insisted the prospect of being without Champions League football next season won’t put Jude Bellingham off Liverpool.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former West Ham striker said the uncertainty surrounding the future of Man City could be a deterrent for Bellingham.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, as relayed by CaughtOffside (13 February), the 19-year-old is Jurgen Klopp’s top target for the summer but he could be given the backing for multiple big signings.

On 23 January, Football Insider revealed that the England international has no intention of signing a new contract with Borussia Dortmund.

His current deal runs until 2025 and Bellingham is set to reject attempts to tie him down to a longer term deal ahead of a huge summer move.

Last week, Man City were hit with over 100 breaches of Financial Fair Play rules and in the worst case scenario, if proven, could be relegated from the Premier League.

McAvennie suggested that could be a factor in Bellingham’s decision.

Everybody has got an opinion and everyone says he will not go anywhere that he is not playing Champions League football,” he told Football Insider.

I do not buy into that. He knows that they are going to come back from this and he is the big man that can help them do it.

It is only one year that they have had a dip. He will come in and play knowing that next year they will be challenging for the league.

Liverpool

You know it is only a blip that they are not in the Champions League, you are likely to win it when you are playing with Liverpool. Man City might not even be there in a few years.

He will look at [Erling] Haaland and think he is not enjoying it at Man City. I think it is a no-brainer.
