Liverpool handed ‘huge’ boost as new arrival confirmed – pundit
The return of medical expert Christopher Rohrbeck may have provided a “huge” boost in the Liverpool dressing room ahead of Saturday’s (28 May) Champions League final.
That is according to former Scotland boss Alex McLeish, who was speaking exclusively to Football Insider ahead of the Stade de France showdown.
The Athletic reported last Monday (16 May) that the “extremely popular” Rohrbeck has returned to Anfield after a previous spell with the club.
The physiotherapist worked at German side Mainz during Jurgen Klopp’s spell in the dugout between 2001 and 2008 – and linked up with him at Liverpool between 2017 and 2020.
Rohrbeck is likely to be hard at work ahead of Saturday’s (28 April) clash against Real Madrid – with Fabinho and Thiago Alcantara both reportedly doubts for the showdown.
McLeish backed the medical expert to have a “big impact”.
“The guy is obviously an expert in his field,” he told Football Insider‘s Russell Edge.
“But it’s not just that. It’s personalities. Having the right personalities around the squad ahead of these big games can be huge.
“He’s obviously someone who can have a big impact. There’s trust in him.
“Nowadays the backroom staff are so important. They’re trying to get the highest level of talent in behind-the-scenes as well as on the pitch.”

Liverpool beat Inter Milan, Benfica, and Villarreal in the knockout stages to reach the Champions League final.
The Reds can secure their seventh triumph in the competition with a victory over 13-time winners Real Madrid.
