Liverpool ‘happier team’ after Man City clash as club set for ‘brilliant’ development – pundit

Liverpool will have left the Etihad Stadium happier than Man City despite their failure to win.

That’s according to former Rangers and Scotland boss Alex McLeish, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about last weekend’s massive clash.

Liverpool took a 2-2 draw away from Man City on Sunday (10 April) thanks to goals from Diogo Jota and Sadio Mane.

This kept the distance between the two clubs at one point with both still to play seven Premier League games.

McLeish insists Liverpool will be the happier of the two sides despite them being unable to unseat Man City at the top of the league table.

“Liverpool will actually be going away from The Etihad feeling a lot more confident about themselves,” McLeish told Football Insider deputy editor Russell Edge.

“I think they will actually be the happier team coming away from that game.

“They will know they just need to tighten up a little bit. They won’t meet too many teams like City between now and the end of the season.

“Liverpool have a brilliant run in. I’m sure Mahrez had a sleepless night after his miss.

“It’s one that got away for Man City.”

Liverpool face two derbies in their next two Premier League games, facing Man United (19 April) and Everton (24 April) at Anfield.

Man City are up against Brighton (20 April) and Watford (23 April) in their next couple of league games.
